CLIVE OWEN SHOOTS AND SLIDES
Clive Owen plays a character who is extremely proficient with guns in many different ways in Shoot ‘Em Up. |
Clive Owen stars as Mr. Smith, a seemingly private man until he finds himself entrusted to protect a child amidst a hail of gunfire at every turn in Shoot ‘Em Up. |
Clive participates in some of the most innovative shoot-outs created by writer and director Michael Davis that have never been seen on screen before. Clive slides across the floor guns blazing and shoots at the bad guys while free-falling 37,000 feet in mid-air. |
“Well the sliding things were sometimes pretty hairy because they wind me up to this machine and then at a certain point they’d crank it on and I’d just get dragged at high voltage across the floor. Physically the wire work and that sort of stuff when you’re attached to cables and things is tough because your body is pulled in there and you’re not necessarily comfortable with because you’re just spun into a position or something and that is physically tough. You’ve got to keep sort of fit and flexible for that kind of work.” |
The most talked about shoot-out involves Monica Bellucci, a sexy prostitute he hooks up with to help him keep the baby safe. While making love a gunfight breaks out which happens to be Clive’s favorite. |
“I think the one that develops in the apartment. I just love that because it just keeps changing. It has serious momentum, this constant direction and it keeps changing and changing and developing and all the time you think, ‘well this must be the peak of it,’ but there’s another level that ends with him spiraling down a stairwell five floors up spraying everybody that’s running up the stairs.” |
Other wild shoot-outs include a scene where Owen’s Mr. Smith spins a playground carousel with bullets flying so a sniper can’t shoot the baby lying on it. Shoot ‘Em Up opens Friday, September 7th in theaters. |
