CBGB FEST GETS UNDER WAY WITH BILLY IDOL, GNR’S DUFF McKAGAN, BEASTIE BOYS AD ROCK
The CBGB Fest, the five day music and film festival, took place in New York City starting this past Wednesday, and it ends with a free concert in times square that features Jane’s Addiction, Devo, Robert Delonge and others. One of the highlights of the festival so far was former Guns N’ Roses bass player Duff McKagan performing on Thursday night, October 9 with his band the Walking Papers and debuting clips and talking about his forthcoming movie “It’s So Easy And Other Lies,” which details his rise to fame, the next night. Another highlight was Billy Idol, who gave the festival Keynote and talked about the early days of punk being in Generation X.
Billy also gave a rousing acoustic mini-concert with guitarist Steve Stevens including a rousing rendition of “White Wedding.”
However when he went to do “Rebel Yell he got a little tripped up before correcting and collecting himself, possibly due to the similar stripped down arrangement… or something else.

Idol sounded great and looked great as he’s readying an upcoming tour in support of his new, just released book Dancing With Myself and a new album titled Kings And Queens Of The Underground, which hits retail and online outlets October 21. Also featured at the fest was Adam Horovitz aka Ad Rock and his new film Up In Smoke.
