10 YEARS HOPING TO BRING ‘LUDES ON TOUR
(VIDEO) After headlining a handful of shows 10 Years is back to opening, heading out later this week with Korn and Mudvayne, but the band compared the two. |
10 Years may have the third slot on tour behind Korn and Mudvayne, but make no mistake they may be the hottest of the three. The band’s “Wasteland” has topped Alternative Rock and Active Rock radio stations in the U.S., and they just came off a successful run of headline dates. Although it was only a handful of dates, the band learned a valuable lesson. |
10 Years is out supporting The Autumn Effect, which is more diverse than those who have just been exposed to the band’s music in an opening slot capacity. rnDrummer/songwriter Brian Vodinh said that the band isn’t able to include the full menu of styles and feels in an opening capacity, especially opening for Mudvayne and Korn. |
“The thing with the live show is we like to incorporate a lot of the interludes and a lot of the more chilled out stuff, which when we headline we do all that stuff, but then it’s a bit of a heavier crowd so… and also we only have a half an hour set. So we just, especially on this tour, we try to kick you in the face for the whole time, for the most part. There are little spots where it’s up and down in the set, but…that’s a good question. Headlining, the first time we really headlined since this record [was released] we had to figure out how to incorporate all that into the set.” |
Vodinh talked about the difficulty in working on the headline set and the flow. |
“It was tough at first for bringing some of those moments to life in a live capacity. A lot of that stuff too is what I like to call headphone music, like the interludes and the softer more chill-out stuff… It’s stuff that when you’re getting pumped up to go to a show, you don’t really put on that stuff with your friends out drinking a beer, but when you’re chilling out and about to go to bed, you put on the headphones, that’s an appropriate time for that. So, we really had to feel it out for the live set. Kick ’em in the teeth for like, four songs and then chill ’em out, throw in an acoustic one or something like that and then bring it back in the other direction again.” |
10 Years just wrapped up their headlining dates over the weekend (February 19), and now the band is set to embark on the Korn and Mudvayne tour starting Friday, February 24 in Korn’s hometown of Bakersfield, California. |
