ZAKK WYLDE SHOT TO HELL
Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde is out on tour with his band Black Label Society in support of his new effort, Shot To Hell. See Zakk talk about the effort here. |
Zakk Wylde has released his latest Black Label Society album, Shot To Hell, and he’s currently out on the road supporting the effort. Wylde and Black Label recently came back from a tour of Australia, which followed his stint playing double duty with Black Label and Ozzy. He’s also in the studio working with the prince of darkness on his new solo album. |
Wylde told us the difference in coming up with songs and guitar parts for an Ozzy album as opposed to a Black Label Society album. |
“It’s music. The bottom line is just whoop some ass. So I mean, as long as it sounds kick ass, that’s it. You know what I mean? I listen to… I wear all my influences on my sleeve. I’ll take anything that sounds like Elton John, or something that sounds like Sabbath, or something that sounds like [Led] Zep[pelin], something sounds like this or that. I get it from there but then you stick it in a blender and you bash it up a little bit and you turn it into your own thing. Your influences come from where you’re at.” |
Wylde was also asked what the biggest obstacle in making the album was, and he said with tongue firmly planted in cheek: |
“The biggest obstacle in getting it done? It was like the biggest obstacle in getting the new Black Label [Society] album done is trying to run the whole gay brothels, and then the whore houses and also the…finding the beer endorsement. That was the big thing about trying to get the album done. Outside of that, we had a great time, and then trying to get home every night after playing and getting b–wn by the old lady, but it’s still a love story at the end of the day….and the gay brothels…because with Black Label we care about everybody. We don’t…it doesn’t matter who you are. If you’re black label, you’re Black Label. Game over.” |
Black Label Society’s current run of dates end December 8 at the Wiltern in Los Angeles California. The first single is “Concrete Jungle.” Check back in the coming weeks to find out about the new Ozzy record, Zakk’s forthcoming movie, and sharing what Black Label really means. |
