YUMMI BINGHAM WANTS TO GO FROM SONGWRITER TO ARTIST
R&B singer Yummi Bingham began her career in her early teens as a member of a girl group. When the group was dropped following the dissolution of Arista Records, the singer decided to pursue a career as a songwriter. She has since penned hits for Brandy, Christina Aguilera, Yo-Yo, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Kelly Rowland, Mary J. Blige and others. |
The singer, who is the daughter of R&B producer Dinky Bingham, decided to give the game on more try and she will release her debut album, Yummi Bingham First Seed, in May. The album features guest appearances by Busta Rhymes and Jadakiss and the production of Rockwilder. |
“Yummi Bingham is my nickname. My gandfather gave that to me when I was just a couple of days old. And it stuck with me throughout being an artist because I didn’t want a made up name or false image. And my grandfather told me he disown me if I didn’t use it so I pretty much didn’t have a choice.” |
