WOLFMOTHER FINISHES COSMIC EGG, READY FOR NEW MOON RISING WITH NEW LINEUP
Aussie Hard Rockers Wolfmother have finished recording their upcoming album “Cosmic Egg” and it will be the highly anticipated follow up to their hit self-titled debut album from 2005. After extensive touring and winning over fans around the globe with their energetic style and sonic textures, Wolfmother disbanded at the end of 2008 leaving lead vocalist and guitarist Andrew Stockdale to move on without former members Chris Ross and Myles Heskett. |
Artisan News caught up with Andrew Stockdale to get his thoughts on the uncertainty of the band before making the lineup change. |
“We were close to making this record and at the last minute there was uncertainty of what they wanted to do and I said to them ‘Look, we’re at this point where it’s up to you. Whatever you want to do is totally cool. If you don’t want to do it, that’s fine. If you want to make a record that’s cool but you have to take some time off and think about it and get back to us and just make a decision.’ So everyone was kind of feeling that it was going on and on.” |
Andrew also talked about striving for Wolfmother to have a better 2009 than he did with the band in 2008. |
“I said to myself on New Year’s Eve when 2008 finished I was like ‘Thank God 2008 is finished that was the worst year of my life.’ I was like ‘I am not going to let 2009 slip through my fingers. We are going to start immediately.’ And we started with the new lineup on the 5th of January and we did gigs in January. We started pre production in February. We started recording the album and here we are now in July and the albums done.” |
Andrew also talked about being relieved that he finally knows the future of Wolfmother. |
“Now they decided to do something else so it’s good. It’s a relief. It’s a relief to at least know what’s ahead rather than being in limbo I guess.” |
Wolfmother will release “Cosmic Egg” on October 13th, and they already have a few supporting tour dates booked opening shows for The Killers beginning August 31st in Maryland before starting their New Moon Rising Tour September 17th in Brisbane, Australia. Look for Wolfmother at the first annual Epicenter Festival in Pomona, California on August 22nd playing alongside Tool, Linkin Park, Alice in Chains and Atreyu to name just a few. Wolfmother will also be opening a run of tour dates for AC/DC in Australia and New Zealand in 2010. |
