WOLFMOTHER BEYOND THE HYPE
Wolfmother has been one of the most hyped and sought after bands of the last year. The band was anticipated, hyped up, and now is suffering a bit of a lull as far as buzz. The fans, however, have not forgotten the band as they’ve been rolling along touring the world and impressing audiences. |
Drummer Myles Heskett talked about how the band reacts to the buzz and the hype. |
“We don’t really think about hype at all. It doesn’t really mean that much to us. I mean it’s great to have the attention, initially, and hype can be great because everybody is like, ‘You’ve got to go out and check out this band.’ Everyone talks to everyone else and so it’s on everyone’s lips.” |
Heskett added they try to concentrate on music and don’t worry what people say in either a positive or negative light. |
“You can’t really control what people are going to say or how expectations are met. We’re just doing what we do and trying to concentrate on playing the best shows we possibly can, record the best album we could. All of that other stuff is kind of out of our hands, and I guess it’s more in our manager’s hands (laughs) with how you do with all that stuff. We just want to play music. That’s all we can do.” |
Wolfmother is on a run of U.S. dates with the tour coming to a close December 12 in Hollywood, California. They’re also on the bill for the KROQ Acoustic Christmas which is slated for December 9. |
