WILMER VALDERRAMA ACCOMPANIES MINORS
Wilmer Valderamma’s job in Unaccompanied Minors is to entertain kids stranded at an airport during the holidays. |
Wilmer Valderrama is head of airport security who is in charge of accompanying the unaccompanied minors who are stranded during the holidays and ultimately band together to make their own Christmas cheer. |
Wilmer says he enjoyed working with the kids because they reminded him of his family and the importance of family during the holidays. |
“I learned a lot from them. I have a baby brother and a bunch of younger sisters so I get along with them on the levels that a lot of people don’t understand how do I do it, you know. This one what I really liked is it combines so many things. It combines family, love, friendship and Christmas. And most important family because family is so important to illustrate especially some of those kids come from divorced families. What’s so cool about it is they become a family of their own and they find a way to become a family without having a real one.” |
In the film Wilmer’s job was to entertain the kids and keep them occupied so what better way to do that than to toboggan down a hill in a canoe giving dashing through the snow new meaning. |
“The canoe night was interesting. I’ve never worked in such conditions. The kids and I were trying to be troopers. We’re talking about 10 degree weather. It was super, super cold and we’re going down this hill. First of all our stunt men and ladies went almost 45 miles per hour down that hill. We only went 10 miles per hour. And it was really cold. And I’m talking snow would splash all over our faces and freeze our faces up. By the time we came down we had icicles on our ears.” |
Wilmer says he sacrificed his warmth for the scene. |
Unaccompanied Minors opens Friday in theaters. |
