WILLIAM H. MACY MOVES TO THE FUTURE
From the horror stories of Stephen King comes the eight one-hour episodic series Nightmares and Dreamscapes on TNT starring William H. Macy in the short story adaptation of Umney’s Last Case. William plays a fictional 1930’s detective who switches identities with the writer who created him from the future. |
Macy says he was impressed with Stephen King’s unique take on going back to the future. |
“Clive Umney is a hard-bitten detective in 1938. In the first act his world starts getting a little wonky a little bit. In the second act it gets really bizarre and then this fellow shows up from 2005. And it’s Sam, Sam the writer. Clive finds out that he’s the detective in a series of novels that Sam has written. Sam says, ‘I don’t like my life back in 2005. You go back and comfort my wife.’ I’m gonna be the detective from now on.” |
Nightmares and Dreamscapes premieres July 12 at 9PM on TNT.rn |
“Mr. King does a great job because that switch is at once believable and yet he doesn’t spend a lot of time making you believe it. He just does it. It’s a charming collision of 2005 meets 1938.” |
