WILL FERRELL FUNNY AND SAD IN STRANGER THAN FICTION
Will Ferrell stars as an IRS auditor going about his daily routine when suddenly he hears the voice of a novelist inside his head with his own name as the lead character. The only problem is she’s trying to figure out how to kill him. Will talks about the appeal of Harold Crick in Stranger Than Fiction. |
Will has always taken charge of his own life beginning stand-up at a train depot in San Juan, Capistrano where he had to compete with the train going by for six people in the audience but nevertheless he persevered. Will says Stranger Than Fiction has a similar message to never give up your dreams. |
“Harold Crick is such a likable character because he’s extremely vulnerable. You immediately with this guy who lives his life to the second. He’s got his lunch break planned out. The poor guy has probably never even taken a vacation from work. And you immediately identify and get excited when he starts to really take charge and live his life.” |
Will proves in the film he’s not just a comedian, but shows his dramatic streak as well. He says the people he knows who have seen it laughed and cried. |
“You know the message of the film is kind of champions those decisions whether they’re big or small. Whether it’s your goal to run a marathon or learn Spanish. It’s like we have goals on our life’s to-do list that for whatever reasons they’re just sitting up there and we’re not doing anything about them and you need to.” |
Stranger Than Fiction opens Friday in theaters.rn |
“It’s kind of a classic version of escapism. There hasn’t been one person I’ve talked to who said they felt bad coming out of the movie. They thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was very funny. Other people thought it was so touching and were crying at the end of it and that’s when you know it’s worth while seeing when people can have that many different reactions to it.” |
