WILL DAILEY BACK FLIPPING FORWARD
Will Dailey talks about things turning around in the darkest hour with his latest release ‘Back Flipping Forward.’ |
Will Dailey, winner of the 2006 Boston Music Award for Best Male Singer Songwriter, has released his latest album, ‘Back Flipping Forward’ and this album is the follow up to Will’s 2004 release ‘Goodbyeredbullet.’ As an independent recording artist, Will sold his car in 2004 to record his debut album ‘Goodbyeredbullet’ and while shopping for a record deal to complete his second album, Dailey unfortunately came down with Appendicitis that almost derailed the recording process of ‘Back Flipping Forward’ completely. |
We caught up with Will Dailey recently to discuss the arduous process of recovering from his illness, finding a label that believed in his talent and finally getting into a studio to record the album. |
“It’s always a struggle. I’m not independent anymore but when you’re independent, it’s always a struggle to get a record made. For ‘Goodbyeredbullet’ I sold my car. My red Honda Civic, which is the red bullet. That’s my red bullet. On ‘Back Flipping Forward’ we were looking around to try and find an indie deal to do the record and I wound up in the hospital with Appendicitis. Everything just got further and further away. But, you know my manager got me a good indie deal and I lucked out at the end of the day.” |
Having begun his musical career at the tender age of 12 years old, ‘Back Flipping Forward’ was one of the most challanging records for Will to make and at times even Will couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. We also spoke with Will about his thoughts on things working out and turning around in his darkest hour. |
“I had enough challanges in life being able to get back up on my feet so I knew it would, it was just a matter of when. Fortunately pretty much I was walking out of the hospital and my manager was like ‘We got something and we can start working on it soon. As soon as you can sing, we’ll start working on it.’ And that’s what we did. So in the darkest hour, everyone’s got that tale you know. Just when things couldn’t get any worse, they do for a second and then it turns around.” |
‘Back Flipping Forward’ was remixed and rereleased by CBS records on October 2nd. A deluxe edition of Will Dailey’s single ‘Rise’ featuring the album version, an acoustic version, and a live in-studio video, is now available exclusively at iTunes. Will Dailey’s songs has been featured on the TV shows- NCIS, Jerico, What About Brian and most recently on the season finale of CSI: Miami. Will Dailey will be kicking off his highly anticipated U.S. Tour on November 7th in Los Angeles, California and the tour will makes it’s way across the U.S. concluding December 7th in New York. It was also annoucned recently that Will Dailey has been nominated in the 2007 Boston Music Awards for Best Male vocalist. |
