WATSON SQUEEZING IN, WHILE ZELWEGGER SQUEEZES OUT IN MISS…
Emily Watson talks about the challenger her co-star faces as Beatrix Potter and her own wardrobe challenge. |
Emily Watson portrayls Millie Warne in the movie Miss Potter, the movie about Beatrix Potter who penned the successful Peter Rabbit Books. Watson plays the best friend and hopeful sister-in-law of Potter, played by Renee Zelwegger. Her love interest in the film is Ewan McGreggor. |
Watson, who just had a baby, talked about the most challenging part of the movie. |
“I was very grateful for the corset. They are very uncomfortable things to wear. All that stuff about Victorian women passing out and getting hysterical is completely true because basically you are squeezing your lungs and depriving your brain of oxygen. Yeah you do feel faint when you put it on. Yeah, I just had a baby so I was grateful for all the help I could get. Yeah, you do feel a little giddy occasionally. It’s exhausting.” |
Watson, a dear friend of Miss Potter, talks about the pressures a young woman faced in the early 20th century. |
“It’s very, very hard to imagine what it would have been like to have been born into a certain section of society with class and money. It’s expected you get married or you stay home and drink tea. What was so exceptional about Beatrix was that she had a real independent inner creative life and that delivered her out of that situation.” |
Miss Potter opens in select theaters on Friday, but a full scale release is slated for January 12. |
