WARREN HAYNES TALKS VEGOOSE WEEKEND
Phil Lesh, Grateful Dead bassist, has continued on and is still looking for open minded musicians for Phil Lesh And Friends. Keywords: Jerry Garcia, Trey Ana… |
Vegoose, the west coast’s answer to Bonnaroo, the successful jam band fest that takes place in Tennessee, kicked off on Friday and it features the likes of Trey Anastasio, Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson, and slew of other jam-influenced bands. |
The festival also featured an appearance by Beck, and performer Warren Haynes of Gov’t Mule and the Allman Brothers, talked about what’s great about Vegoose. |
“Well, Vegoose should be interesting. You know, it’s going to be like Bonnaroo in Vegas, which is kind of an oxymoron of sorts, but all our friends will be there. A lot of bands that have been part of Bonnaroo… It should be a wonderful experience. Any time you get that many good bands together in one place, you’re going to draw a crowd of people that are serious music fans. That’s kind of the the key with anything like this, whether it’s Bonnaroo or Vegoose or any of these types of festivals. Each band brings its own crowd, and each crowd gets to discover music that maybe they heard about, maybe not, but it’s something that’s new for them. And each band gets to play to people who have never heard them before.” |
Vegoose spanned Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and also features Phil Lesh, The Flaming Lips, Ween, Primus, Talib Kwelli, and Blackalicious among others. |
