Vinnie Paul shares his thoughts on the late Dime Bag Darrell possibly getting a Golden God Lifetime Achievement Award in the future |
After the success of the first annual Revolver Golden God Awards, which was the first award show in America to celebrate Metal music, it’s quite clear that not only was it a long time coming but the show will build upon the first year which saw performances from Megadeth, Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed, All That Remains and Suicide Silence. Not only was the crowd treated to amazing live performances, but some of Metal’s biggest names like Vinnie Paul, Slayer, Dave Mustaine and Slipknot were honored as well for their contributions to the genre of Metal. But the biggest award of the evening was the Revolver Golden God Lifetime Achievement Award which was given to the legendary Ozzy Osborne. Fans who weren’t lucky enough to attend the show will get their chance to see the first event of its kind in America on Saturday April 25th on MTV2 followed by a one-hour Golden God Awards special on May 2nd. |
Vinnie Paul, who currently performs with Hell Yeah, was honored as Metals Most Awesome Drummer and we caught up with him on the black carpet to get his thoughts on the possibility of his late brother Dime Bag Darrell getting honored in the future for his lifetime of service to music, the music industry and his fans. |
“I think he deserves it. That would be awesome if he gets anything. Dime was everything Metal and he gave everything he had and hopefully something like that will happen soon.” |
In 1981, Dimebag Darrell along with his brother, Vinnie Paul formed Pantera, which would turn out to be one of the most popular heavy metal bands of the 1990s. After Pantera broke up Darrell and Vinnie went on to form Damageplan but during a Damageplan performance in Columbus, Ohio on December 8, 2004, Dimebag was fatally shot at the age of 38 and the world lost not only an amazing guitarist but one of the nicest people the music industry has ever known. |
