VINCE VAUGHN KNOWS ABOUT BREAK-UPS
When it comes to relationships you can say Vince Vaughn has matured. No longer chasing skirts in The Wedding Crashers he has moved in with his girlfriend played by Jennifer Aniston in The Break-Up. Vince wrote the screenplay based on some of his own personal experiences and says the film could also do some damage control. |
Vince Vaughn has two older sisters so he knows what women want but he’ll be the first to admit he’d much rather be watching football than doing the dishes. |
“I always thought relationships were sort of strange enough as they are and I always liked the Odd Couple so I thought what about a couple that has moved in and bought a place together but then breaks up. Really the movie is kind of a cautionary tale about two people that could be good people that love each other but if you don’t honor and appreciate a relationship you can do damage to it.” |
The Break-Up also stars Vince Vaughn’s Swingers buddy Jon Favreau but this time he gets the laughs at his friend’s expense. |
“My character is like a lot of guys out there. A lot of times I’m not a big fan of all romantic comedies because they always have the guy like trying to make the girl happy or saying the most wonderful things. In real life I think for most guys you want to watch the game, you want to play your video games; you’re not as interested necessarily in cleaning the dishes that night. So I think a lot of guys can relate to my character because they can see themselves in Gary.” |
The Break-Up opens Friday June 2 nationwide.rn |
“When we did Swingers together and Made, when Jon wrote those he’s always the straight man and I was always more of the comic relief so for me it was fun for Favreau to come in and get a chance to be the comic relief and have it be at my expense this time.” |
