VELVET REVOLVER HOLD SECRET CD RELEASE PARTY, LOOK TO HIT ROAD IN SUPPORT OF LIBERTAD
With the relief of finally having their sophomore album, ‘Libertad’ finished and the upcoming tour soon to follow, Velvet Revolver held a secret CD release party at the famed Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood, Ca on July 5th, 2007. To a sold out and packed club, the band tore through hits from their debut album ‘Contraband’ along with a few tracks from ‘Libertad.’ With the album done and in stores, the band is anxiously looking forward to hitting the road and they have announced an upcoming tour with Alice in Chains will kick off in August. |
We caught up with Slash, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner of Velvet Revolver to discuss their relief in finally have the album done and how much they’re looking forward to rocking around the world for a few years. |
“The beauty of finishing a record, this album is knowing that there’s going to be a tour behind it and go out and play the songs and we’re out there doing it. Making the album, people don’t really realize what goes into making a record. It’s a bit of a thing. But when you finish it, it’s like ‘Ahh!’ When you finally listen to the last mixes and everyone’s happy and you master it maybe three or four times, it’s a huge relief. Hey Slash is your guitar cool on that one and everyone’s like ‘Yeah’ and then we’re all like ‘Ahh!’ And then this wave of 5 years of responsibilities for the year and half come and you’re like ‘Ah!’ But we know that we’ve got a couple of years now to go rock around the world and play music and play our album and play our last album and that’s the coolest thing about it.” |
Velvet Revolver will begin their tour in support of ‘Libertad’ on August 5th at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore, MD and will extend until October 9th, 2007 in South Haven, MS. Look for more Tour Dates to be announced in the very near future as Velvet Revolver will undoubtedly tour the world for the next few years. |
