UPDATE: TRAVIS BARKER OF BLINK 182 PLANE CRASH STATUS
An update on the condition of Travis Barker and DJ AM after deadly crash in Columbia, South Carolina. |
Travis Barker, former drummer of Blink 182 and current Plus 44 drummer, was badly injured Friday night in a fatal plane crash in Columbia South Carolina, but the good news is he will be making a full recovery. He and DJ AM were the only survivors of the jet crash that claimed four lives. |
Barker and DJ AM, whose name is Adam Goldstein, were rushed from that airport and airlifted to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia. The Center’s spokesperson Beth Frits discussed their burns, and said that the duo is expected to make a full recovery. |
“According to Doctor Mullins who spoke at the press conference this morning, he predicted that these two gentlemen will have a full recovery. Whatever they did before their injury they will be able to do again. I can’t go into any other issues, I can tell you that they both suffer from second and third degree burns and Mr. Barker suffered his burns on the torso and lower body, and Mr. Goldstein’s were to his arm and his head.” |
So when will they be able to get back to music? |
“According to Doctor (Fred) Mullins this morning, he could not give a timetable of when they would be discharged except that when they’re better and they’re able to be discharged the would be. As far as a timeline with their recovery post burn center, he said that it typically takes about a year before you feel like you are back to where you were before your injuries. It varies from patient to patient depending on the injury and what extremities were burned, you know your arms, your hands, and your legs, that’s just a typical patient. It varies depending on what your injuries were, but that’s a good average.” |
The Learjet was taking off from the airport shortly before midnight, the Federal Aviation Administration said. Controllers in the tower saw sparks as the plane was about to take off, and the pilot told controllers they were going off the end of the runway. The plane did in fact run off the runway onto a local road where it burst into flames.rn |
