UNDEROATH READY TO HEADLINE 15TH ANNIVERSARY WARPED TOUR
Underoath talk about headlining Warped Tour’s 15th Anniversary and why things are getting easier for them after 5 years performing on Warped Tour. |
The traveling punk rock Summer camp, known as The Warped Tour, is set to celebrate its 15th Anniversary in 2009 and this year’s tour will bring together NOFX, Meg & Dia, 3OH!3, Bad Religion, Chiodos, Fishbone, Less than Jake, Flogging Molly and Underoath to name just a few of the bands who will be a part of America’s longest running festival. By breaking in up-and-coming indie talent as well as showcasing established artists since 1995, The Warped Tour has cemented its place in history by playing a major role in bringing punk-rock/skate/action sports culture from the underground to the forefront of American youth culture, while at the same time creating awareness and taking action towards environmental and causes and helping those in need. |
We caught up with Underoath, who have been a part of The Warped Tour since its 10th Anniversary, to get their thoughts on things getting easier for them now that they are headlining the entire tour. |
“It’s easy to me because you only have to play for a half hour. Your first time on it it’s probably one of the most grueling tours. Yeah the first time is really hard. But once you know what’s up and what to expect it becomes kind of cake now. I know exactly what to expect on that tour and how to deal with it and how to get through it. Going into it we know exactly how to deal with it, exactly who to hang out with, exactly where to go, how to avoid lines, how to avoid messy bathrooms, you know I mean? You learn. The first time or two, the first month you’re like ‘What the hell am I doing here?’ You don’t sleep, you don’t shower, you’re just dirty and tired and angry and nasty but for the first time it’s great because it’s a great tour and for your band, it’s amazing.” |
The 46-date tour kicks off June 26 in Pomona, CA and finishes August 23 in Carson, CA. Tour founder Kevin Lyman is making 2009 a fan-friendly tour with ticket prices to the festival remaining affordable for all concertgoers with presale prices starting at approximately $25. That exclusive pre-sale price gives fans a concert ticket, a copy of the Vans Warped Tour 2009 compilation CD, a 25-cent donation to the Camp Hollywood Heart charity and all service fees. A few more bands slated to appear on Warped Tour’s 15th Anniversary include Saosin, Senses Fail, TSOL, Bayside, TAT, Shooter Jennings, Scary Kids Scaring Kids and a wealth of other talent. Check warped tour’s website for all the details on the lineup for each show. |
