UNDEROATH OK WITH THE C WORD
Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman talks about the difficulty in putting together the annual Warped Tour lineup after 15 successful years. |
Underoath just finished a Canadian tour with The Used and they’re set to tour with Thrice starting October 4 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The band combines the best of hardcore with the best of the pop punk movement, but what separates them is their belief in Christianity. |
Unlike many Christian Rock bands, the categorization doesn’t seem to hurt the band’s reputation at all. The reason for this, said guitarist Tim McTague, is the fact that they’re not trying to be better than anyone else and they’re not too overt with their message. |
“I feel like if I’m pretending to be this perfect person and putting myself on a pedestal then it is a lot harder for someone to look at me or look at us as a band and relate to us but when they see the truth and see that we’re all just as jacked up and just as hurt and just as screwed up as anyone else, it’s a lot more of a true representation of what Christians are. They’re just humans who have found a better way to live life and to live after life and beyond that we’re all made of the same organs, the same blood and the same bones. Christians today don’t want that to be known.” |
Underoath has just released a limited edition of their latest album, They’re Only Chasing Safety, and it arrives in stores October 4. The updated collection features bonus tracks and a DVD component. |
