UGK MEMBER PIMP C FOUND DEAD IN HOTEL ROOM

UGK’s Pimp C found dead in Los Angeles hotel room.

UGK’s Pimp C, whose real name is Chad Butler, was found dead in his Los Angeles hotel room on Monday morning December 3rd. The rapper was staying in a sixth floor room at the Mondrian. According to published reports, an emergency response team found the 33 year-old rapper dead in bed after his family members called the hotel when he failed to check out on Sunday.

Pimp C performed at the House of Blues over the weekend with his labelmate Too Short. The rapper was preparing for a new solo project on Jive Records on the heals of the success of UGK’s self-titled double album which debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200 albums chart in August.

“I honestly have to put it all in my faith in God. Man, you know a lot of times I couldn’t handle these things myself and I just had to reach for a higher power. When I couldn’t find the strength in myself, I found the strength in God.”

Jive Records president and CEO Barry Weiss said in a released statement, “He was truly a thoughtful and kind-hearted person. He will be remembered for his talent and profound influence as a pioneer in bringing Southern rap to the forefront. He will be missed and our prayers remain with his family and Bun B. I’ve known Chad since he was 18, and we loved him dearly and he was a cherished member of the Jive family.”
