U2 SOLD OUT TOUR RETURNS TO NEW YORK
In New York City this past Thursday and Friday, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame brought together once-in-a-lifetime collaborations featuring U2, Metallica, Br… |
The U2 tour is in the homestretch, but the band recently returned to New York City’s Madison Square Garden to play two more shows on the current leg due to popular demand. The band may be getting comfortable at the Garden, but there are fans who can’t get their fill of the band. |
U2 is out supporting their latest effort, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, and drummer Larry Mullen was asked if they went into the record thinking they have to perform these songs live for months or even years on end. |
“Yeah, we always tend to look at songs in that light. It’s like, how will this work live? You always think that. I don’t think you… You don’t write songs necessarily to fit that bill, but you always think that way. You’d be foolish not to.” |
One fan who recently moved to New York from Dublin, U2’s hometown, said that this is the first time he’s catching them away from home. |
“This is my fifth time seeing them on this tour. Every concert has been brilliant, so I’m looking forward to seeing them in New York for the first time. I’m from Dublin, from Ireland, so it’s good to see them over here.” |
One other fan flew from Dallas, Texas to see the band at Madison Square Garden in New York City. In fact, she was a fan from the age of 3. |
“My first one was when I was three years, four years old — the Unforgettable Fire tour in London. My first concert. Yeah, my dad stuck me up on his shoulders and I watched U2 and screamed and have been a hardcore fan ever since. We flew in from Dallas, Texas to be here tonight.” |
U2’s U.S. tour run winds down December 19 in Portland, Oregon. |
