U GOD FILES SUIT AGAINST WU MUSIC GROUP
U-God breaks ranks and files lawsuit against Wu Music Group for lack of payment. |
First Ghostface Killah and Raekwon aired their grievances against the Wu-Tang Clan leadership and now U-God has decided to purse the legal route. The rapper, whose real name is Lamont Hawkins, filed a lawsuit against the Wu-Music Group on January 8th in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. In the lawsuit, the rapper alleges that he is owed over $170,000. |
According U-God, he is owed at least $50,000 dollars for his involvement in last summer’s Rock The Bells tour, $60,000 dollars for the BMG publishing advance and approximately $40,000 dollars for the Wu-Tang Clan album advance. The rapper is also seeking 9 percent interest to be calculated from the date he filed suit. |
“It’s time to take our power back in our music man. Ya’ll as the fans, you know if you don’t like something don’t support it. If you’re supporting something. Get behind it. Make phone calls, write letters, you know what I mean, take it back to that.” |
The Wu-Tang Clan’s latest album, 8 Diagrams, has been a flop so far. The set has sold just over 120,000 copies after being in stores for over a month. |
