TYLER PERRY INSPIRES FATHERS TO MAN UP
Tyler Perry writes about absentee fathers manning up and taking responsiblity for their daughters in Daddy’s Little Girls. |
Daddy’s Little Girls is writer director Tyler Perry’s sophomore effort after Diary of a Mad Black Woman and Madea’s Family Reunion. It tells the story of an absentee father played by Idris Elba who suddenly has to step up to the plate and raise his three daughters. |
Tyler says he wanted to tell a story that would inspire reluctant fathers to man up. |
“What I’ve tried to do is tell stories that people can relate to. Now I want to tell a story about a man who takes care of his children especially an African American man. There are so many stories recently about what’s happening to Black men and where are they and I wanted to show not only to people who don’t know but to people who may be fathers and show them that there are and you can take care of your kids and it is OK. That’s what this story’s about, it’s about the triumph of one man’s heart. It’s a great, great story that I’m really excited about.” |
Tyler guarantees that Daddy’s Little Girls will take you on an emotional ride. |
“You’re gonna laugh one minute one moment. You may be in tears but by the end of this film I promise you you will have known that you got your money’s worth and that you had an amazing time watching it. More than anything it gives hope. It gives hope to fathers, it gives hope to women who are looking for love, it gives hope to children who are looking for their fathers. It speaks volumes to just life.” |
After being thoroughly exhausted touring the stage version of Madea’s Family Reunion and writing the TV series House of Payne Tyler was just happy to stay behind the camera on this film. His next play Why Did I Get Married is in pre-production. |
