Common records song for new soundtrack while still working on Finding Forever. |
Common has been busy working on his new album, Finding Forever, but the rapper was still able to contribute to the soundtrack for Hillary Swank’s new movie, Freedom Writers. Common’s “A Dream” will be the first single from the soundtrack, which hits stores on January 9th. The soundtrack will also include contributions by Talib Kweli, the Pharcyde, and Will.I.Am who produced “A Dream.” |
The Freedom Writers movie, which opens on January 5th, is based on the true story of a teacher who is able to inspire her class of at-risk students to learn tolerance, apply themselves, and pursue education beyond high school. |
“Oh yeah, that’s a special piece of work man. We’re just creating this album, Finding Forever, which is due out in March. Kanye West and Will.I.Am and Karrem Riggins are producing it, along with a track by J Dilla. Man I think it’s another step for Common. You know it’s hard for me to say it’s better than this album, better than that album. It’s just another chapter in the book.” |

In related news, Common will make his big screen debut in Smoking Aces next month. The film, which opens on January 26th, also stars Alicia Keys and Ben Affleck. |
