TWISTA EXPLAINS WHERE RAP WENT WRONG
Chicago-based rapper Twista released his new album, Adrenaline Rush 2007, on Tuesday, September 18th. The album features guest appearances by Pharrell Williams, T-Pain, Lil Wayne, R. Kelly, and Cee-Lo with production by Jazze Pha and Kanye West. The latest single from the project is “Give It Up” featuring Pharrell Williams. |
Twista shared that he thinks hip hop went left when the subject matter of rap changed. He explained, |
“I think we just forgot how dope it is to tell somebody my outfit is flier than yours. Look at how I’m walking. Look at this hat I got on. I’m the s**t. My name is this. This is the hood I’m from. Look at my boys. Look how we posted. This is ill. This is dope. You know what I’m sayin? We got away from knowing that just that in itself is dope. Look at me, you knwo what I’m sayin’?” |
In related news, Twista has pledged his support for the Jena 6, a group of Louisiana high school students who were originally charged with attempted murder for allegedly beating up a white classmate. Twista, Hurricane Chris, Lloyd, B5, and Killer Mike will be performing at a benefit concert on September 29th in Birmingham, Alabama. |
