TREY ANASTASIO REVEALS KEYS TO BAND

Trey Anastasio has revealed a new solo configuration for his latest album, Shine, and he said that he wanted to both be unique and pay homage to one of his favorite bands.

Anastasio said he looked to ’70s icons, The Band, and their use of keyed instruments when assembling his latest outfit.

“The only band that I know of that used keyboards like that is The Band, and I always loved (them). They’re probably just about my favorite band, but they had that organ, piano thing going and it was a big part of their sound. So I looking at it a little bit like that, but then I started seeing that you can do things like… I have two pianos and you can get very, very cool sounds with that. It can be a little bit unique, but I got rid of the horn section and replaced it with the two keyboards.”

Anastasio has one more gig this year, a New Year’s Eve slot opening for The Black Crowes.
