TRANSAMERICA’S FELICITY HUFFMAN IS NO DESPERATE…

(VIDEO) Transamerica is out on DVD starring Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman as a male transsexual.

For those of you who are missing Felicity Huffman during the summer hiatus of Desperate Housewives, you can watch her on the DVD for Transamerica. Except don’t expect to see anyone like Lynette as this character Bree is not your typical housewife. In fact Felicity is playing a man who wants to become a woman.

Felicity took special classes in the art of femininity to play a male transsexual in Transamerica studying with a transgender teacher who taught her womanly ways all over again including how to sit, walk in high heels, and make feminine gestures with her hands. Felicity says it was the greatest acting challenge she could’ve ever experienced.

“She’s like your uptight aunt crossed with your wacky next door neighbor with a heart of gold. So she’s quirky and funny and silly and ridiculous. So you both feel for her and you can’t help but laugh at her.”

Felicity received the greatest gift of all as she won the Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination for her performance in Transamerica.

“Transamerica has been a dream come true to tell you the truth because I knew that it was a great acting challenge. And I was basically scared to death every day we shot. Duncan kind of tested that because when I’m frightened I’m a little bit feisty so there were time where I was like, ‘why, why do you want me to do that!’ No I’m not gonna do that. So I was frightened every day because the challenge felt overwhelming and the cliff was so far to fall. And the fact that it came out and I watched it and I thought it was a charming lovely movie. Then on top of that, that it wasn’t just buried and sent to video somewhere was a gift.”
