TOOL READY TO BEGIN SONGWRITING FOR NEW ALBUM
Jesse Hughes talks about Eagles of Death Metal’s latest album, “Heart On” and why he has a great songwriting chemistry with producer Josh Homme. |
It appears Tool fans can finally rejoice knowing the band is about to start songwriting for their highly anticipated follow up album to 2006’s “10,000 Days” which featured the Grammy nominated hit singles “The Pot” and “Vicarious.” “10,000 Days” debuted on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart at number one, selling 564,000 copies in its first week and the album even took home a Grammy Award for Best Recording Package. Tool, which consists of drummer Danny Carey, guitarist Adam Jones, bassist Justin Chancellor and vocalist Maynard James Keenan, have kept a low profile for the past few years while Keenan concentrates on his side project Puscifer as well as his Vinyard in Arizona and Danny Carey performs with his side project Volto. But it now appears the band is ready to beginning working on their next album in 2010. |
At the Guitar Center Drum Off on Jan 8, 2010, Artisan News caught up with Danny Carey to get his thoughts on getting back to work with Tool although he admits it’s a process you just can’t rush. |
“Oh, hopefully we’re going to start writing songs soon. We’ll see what happens then but you can’t rush it you know. That’s for sure.” |
As of press time Tool has no tour dates booked as they look to get into the studio to begin songwriting for the upcoming album. It’s yet unkown if they will have the album released by the end of 2010 although 2011 seems more likely as you just can’t rush Tool. Maynard will be touring with Puscifer in 2010 with dates kicking off March 2nd in Atlanta, Georgian extending until April 3rd in Minneapolis, MN. |
