TOM MORELLO SHARES HIS THOUGHTS ON RECONNECTING WITH RAGE
Tom Morello is currently touring with his latest band Street Sweeper Social Club, which pairs him with lyricist and vocalist of The Coup, Boots Riley for their hip blend of anthems for the revolution but that doesn’t mean he won’t reflect on 2008’s reunion of Rage Against the Machine. Rage Against the Machine took a few years off while Morello teamed with vocalist Chris Cornell in Audioslave and they made their triumphant return at Coachella Music and Arts Festival in 2008 and it was clear |
Although Morello is concentrating on Street Sweeper Social Club, does he still view Rage Against the Machine as a creative entity? |
Street Sweeper Social Club released their debut self titled album in early 2009 and it peaked at #37 on The Billboard Top 200 Chart. The band’s music is now also available in Guitar Hero 5 in a form of “The Street Sweeper Social Club Track Pack,” featuring three tracks from the album. After winning over fans opening shows for the Nine Inch Nails/Janes Addiction NINJA Tour, Street Sweeper Social Club took their energetic and politically charged live set to Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco and one of the most talked about bands during a weekend full of amazing musicians. Look for Street Sweeper Social Club to announce a new round of tour dates in the near future. As of press time, Rage Against the Machine have no plans to tour or record. |
“Well we didn’t play any shows this year. I would hope at some point in the future we play more shows. It was super fun to do over the course of the year and a half that we did it. We had a great time. Got along great. It’s nice to sort of reconnect with those guys as muscians and as friends and I hopeful at some point we play shows. But right now we’re concentrating on this (Street Sweeper Social Club). Our record didn’t come out that long ago. There’s plenty of places we haven’t toured and played and people need to hear and see this band. It’s gonna scratch your itch too, let me tell you. If you’re a fan of my guitar playing, whether it’s with Rage or Audioslave or Lockup or The Nightwatchman, this is gonna really serve your needs, I got a feeling.” |
