TOM ARNOLD DREW FROM HIS LIFE IN THE FINAL SEASON
Tom Arnold brought his own small town life experience to The Final Season. |
Tom Arnold made sure The Final Season gave an accurate portrayal of small town life in Norway, Iowa and the high school baseball team that went on to become state champions because he lived the life of his character. |
Tom who grew up playing baseball in a church league in Ottumwa, Iowa shared a similar relationship with his father similar to his movie dad who was cautious about his desire to achieve bigger goals. |
“The relationship between my father James Gammon in the movie is like my dad and me now because he just doesn’t trust Hollywood. He’ll read something bad about me and go, ‘hey how’s the dream going. How’s the Hollywood dream?’” |
Tom also brought some of his own colorful life experience to the movie. |
“I worked at a meat packing plant after high school that my whole family worked at Hormel for three years and then I got fired and that’s kind of in the movie too where my dad reminds me that he bailed me out of jail naked once, I was streaking at the old folks home. It sounds creepy but if you live in a small town there’s not a whole lot of places to streak late at night and the old people are asleep by the way. It was just the nurses we knew so we added that in there.” |
The Final Season is currently playing in theaters. |
