Slayer are in the studio working on their highly anticipated new album and Tom Araya gives us an update on how things are going so far. |
Slayer are in the early stages of recording their highly anticipated new album, which will be the follow up to 2006’s “Christ Illusion” which entered the Billboard 200 at number 5, making it Slayer’s highest U.S. chart position to date. Slayer’s original line up of Tom Araya, Jeff Hanneman, Kerry King and Dave Lombardo are currently recording the album in Hollywood, California and they have already released the first single off the upcoming album “Psychopathy Red.” |
Artisan News caught up with Tom Araya to get an update on how the recording is going so far for Slayer. |
“This new album is coming together really well. We’ve been in the studio now for four weeks. I think four or five weeks and it’s coming across together, you know it has all the Slayer elements. I don’t want to compare it to but it has very “Christ Illusion” type songs. You know it’s in that vein but there’s also fast songs, l mean “Psycopathy Red” that right there should give you an example of the broad spectrum of Slayer music is going to be on this album.” |
Slayer will look to have the album completed by the summer of 2009 which will coincide with their upcoming headlining slot of this year’s Mayhem Tour, which also features Marilyn Manson, Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Valentine, Trivium, All That Remains and God Forbid. The Mayhem Tour, which is put on by Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, will kick off July 10th in Sacramento, California and conclude August 16th in San Antonia, Tx. |
