TOBY JONES SURVIVES SUPERMARKET
Toby Jones discovered how he could survive being trapped in a supermarket while filming The Mist. |
Truman Capote star Toby Jones stars in The Mist, Stephen King’s scary tale of a group of Maine townspeople trapped in a local supermarket after a freak storm hits. |
Toby as the store manager has a leg up on everyone else as he knows the secret hiding places. He already has his own survival plan mapped out should he ever find himself trapped inside with man-eating otherworldly bugs waiting in the mist for him. |
“I have checked it out, the supermarket and I know where it’s safer than other places. There’s a place you can hide up high I think. I checked it out and you could hide there. I don’t know how the monsters respond to washing powder. I think there’s probably a cubbyhole behind the washing powder. I could sneak in there with some of the furniture pads, create myself a little sort of burrow area and hide there. So I think I’d go there, avoid the fresh food obviously because that would go off. Look for some dried fruit and nuts and then sort of hunker myself away behind the washing powder. That would be my response.” |
The frozen food aisle seems to have a hold on Toby who talks about what scares him in real life. |
“Yeah but not by supermarkets. I’ve never found anything particularly scary about them. Maybe some of those frozen prawns. No, I don’t find supermarkets scary. I don’t know the dark, my parents. There were a couple of aliens who lived at the bottom of the garden. They were quite scary if they got in a bad mood.” |
There will be no monsters in Toby’s next project. He’s off to Thailand to shoot the Oliver Stone film Pinkville with Bruce Willis about the Mai Lai massacre in Vietnam. |
