TIS THE SEASON FOR TOYS, OR NOT FOR CHRISTMAS

Some celebrities like to indulge in toys like Josh Duhamel, but then there are others who prefer a different kind of gift giving like Kerry Washington.

Christmas is the time for giving and getting and the stars are no exception. Turistas star Josh Duhamel had very snowy Christmases growing up in North Dakota. Every Christmas morning as a tot he would look forward to opening his presents.

He talks about his favorite toys he secretly hoped he would get.

“My favorite toy would be, it was always getting like a football or football helmet or something like that for Christmas was always my favorite or the Mr. Potato Head was a good one too.”

Toys aren’t the only gifts to be given for Christmas. The Dead Girl star Kerry Washington who grew up among a family of activists in The Bronx has a different idea when it comes to gift giving.

“Right now in my life I’m trying to take the focus off of the materialism in the holiday. I’m finding it to be a bit overwhelming, the commercialization of Christmas. I’m just trying to refocus my efforts in that way. I think toys are OK but there’s so much stuff. I’m really trying to give gifts that are focused on community service or even human to human contact like massages or astrology readings, things that involve people, not this constant consumer obsession with obtaining things. It’s not healthy I don’t think, for me anyway.”
