THE USED REMEMBER TSUNAMI, AND HELP
It was a little over one year ago today that the world learned of the devastating Tsunami that crippled indonesia and left tens of thousands dead. It may have been the worst natural disaster in the last 50 years and the enormity surprised even the most hearty of hurricane survivors. |
Earlier this year, during the Taste Of Chaos tour, The Used teamed with My Chemical Romance for a version of Queen/David Bowie’s “Under Pressure,” with the proceeds going to the victims. It raised a fair amount to go to relief, but drummer Branden Steineckert couldn’t help but reminisce about the actual day he found out about the disaster. |
“It’s been bizarre. I remember signging online or something and it said, however many dead in this Tsunami/earthquake thing. I was like, ‘Wow. Holy crap. This time it was like 15,000 and I was like ‘Wow that was a lot of people.’ I started not to keep wanting to find out. Watching that number raise. It was like, that doesn’t happen in a lot of people’s lifetimes, you know?” |
Don’t expect a live performance of the duet anytime soon as The Used vocalist Bert McCracken and My Chemical Romance frontman Gerrard Way are reportedly not the best of friends at the moment. The song is still available for sale on iTunes with proceeds still going to help those in the area get back to normal. |
