THE USED ON TASTE OF CHAOS AND MY CHEM SHADOW?
The Used dispell notions that the rise of My Chemical Romance and Taste Of Chaos are inextricably linked. |
The Used have been integral to the Taste Of Chaos tour, which closed its doors at the end of the week last week. This year’s line-up featured 30 Seconds To Mars, Senses Fail, Saosin, and others, but the tour is inextricably linked to the rise of My Chemical Romance, who exploded on the scene with “I’m Not OK” from their album Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge. |
Many bands on the inaugural Taste Of Chaos feel that the intensity paid to My Chemical Romance may have overshadowed the tour, but The Used’s Quinn Allman and Jepha Howard said that although it was an exciting time, the tour doesn’t experience any post-My Chem hangover. |
[Allman] “All those things factor into making it an enjoyable experience that’s exclusive: Here’s My Chemical Romance going right up on their (way). The singles are just starting to jump out. People are excited. ‘Have you heard that show?! Have you? You haven’t hard them? Go to the show, go to the show. Oh, my god, oh my god this it it!’ Even still now, all these kids are going, ‘Have you heard this band?! Have you heard this band?! It’s not as… It’s just the timing I don’t think is the same, of course, so I would think that’s totally a factor but I woudn’t say that the shows are any less successful or meaningful now.” |
The Used’s Bert McCracken and My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way had a falling out sometime after the tour, but both Allman and Howard refused to comment on it saying they were sick of the question. The Used will play a few UK dates later this month and then they’ll be on the west coast portion of the Warped Tour. Check Warpedtour.com for dates The Used will be appearing. |
