THE ROOTS QUESTLOVE TO PRODUCE NEW AL GREEN ALBUM

The Roots’ Questlove has produced hits for the likes of Common, Dilated Peoples, Nikka Costa, and Erykah Badu. The drummer has also been the backbone of the Roots’ sound since the group was founded in Philadelphia in the early ’90s. The beatsmith, who has become an in demand producer as a member of the three man Soulquarian production team, recently shared that he’s going to be producing Al Green’s new album.

Questlove said,

“When I work with old school artist. I actually work with old school singers. I just got a call from Al Green’s people two days ago to do his whole record so that’s what I’m concentrating on. I want to put Al in place which like today’s samplers and people want to sample his new work. So you know we’ll have our challenge ahead of us but I think we can do it.”

The Roots will release a new album on Def Jam Records in February.
