THE RACONTEURS NOMINATED FOR GRAMMY FOR BEST ROCK ALBUM
The Raconteurs talk about being recognized by their peers with a Grammy Nomination for Best Rock Album for “Consolers of the Lonely.” |
The Raconteurs were recently nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album for their latest release “Consolers of the Lonely.” The album, which spawned the hit song “Salute Your Solution” peaked at #7 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart after its release in early 2008. At the 51st Annual Grammy Awards in the Best Rock Album category, The Raconteurs will be up against Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida,” Kid Rock’s “Rock N Roll Jesus,” Kings of Leon’s “Only By the Night,” and Metallica’s “Death Magnetic.” |
We caught up with guitarist Brendan Benson of The Raconteurs to get his thoughts on Grammy recognition. |
“It’s not important to me but it’s you know, it depends on which it is. If it’s a Grammy I suppose, I think being recognized by your peers is, you know a great thing. Sometimes those awards, sometimes there’s too many awards really, it just seems silly. And the whole event it’s pretty fun usually, most of the time.” |
The 51st Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast on CBS on Feb 8, 2009 from The Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Look for The Raconteurs to take some time away from the road and the studio as Brendan Benson looks to release his latest solo album and Jack White gets back to working with The White Stripes and fellow Raconteurs Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler hit the road with their band The Greenhornes. |
