THE RACONTEURS BRENDAN BENSON READY TO RELEASE NEXT SOLO ALBUM
Brendan Benson, guitarist alongside Jack White in The Raconteurs is putting the finishing touches on his latest solo album, which he hopes to release in 2009. The upcoming album, which will be Benson’s fourth solo effort has been a few years in the making as he experienced some delays in choosing the perfect label to help release the album. Benson, who produced his prior solo albums as well as performed most of the instruments took a different approach to his next album as he brought in a backing band as well as producer Gil Norton. |
Artisan News caught up with Brendan Benson to get his thoughts doing things a little differently this time around. |
“This time I did it completely different. I did it with a band and with a producer Gil Norton and I’m pretty happy about it. It was real different for me to kind of let go of the reigns like that. I kind of loved it and I kind of hated it.” |
We also asked Brendan Benson to describe the sound. |
“I can’t tell. I never can tell, you know I think it sounds kind of like me. I mean, not like my other stuff but in the same vein I think and hopefully it will be a little bit more evolved or something, you know. I think Gil lent a really cool aspect to it. He’s worked with Foo Fighters, Pixies, he’s worked with great bands. So, it’s interesting just to hear, I hear a little bit of that on the record.” |
Brendan Benson will be touring in support of his upcoming as of yet untitled solo album, although as of press time a release date has yet to be announced as well as tour dates. The Raconteurs will be taking some time off as Benson finishes his solo album and tours, Jack White resumes his work with The White Stripes and both Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler will be back on the road with their other band The Greenhornes. |
