THE PIRATE LIFE LIVES ON WITH PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN
Pirates of The Caribbean:At World’s End holds weekend box office. |
Pirates of The Caribbean: At Worlds End is still holding strong with the number one slot at the box office. This time the weekend treasure amounted to $43 million. |
Writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio wrote a script where the pirates are so cool, even the enemy harbors a secret wish to be like Captain Jack. |
“Actually I think there’s a bit of a record company vibe to it. If the Pirates represent rock n’ roll, Beckett and The East India Trading Company represent the record company. The fun thing is Beckett wishes that he was as cool as the pirates. No matter how much he hates them, no matter how much he wants to control things, secretly inside he’d rather be Jack.” |
Tom Hollander plays Cutler Beckett who is after the most precious cargo of all, the heart of Davy Jones. He says the pirate life is definitely not for him. |
“In this story it’s a pirate film so they’re the goodies but in reality they’re the baddies. They’re violent and selfish and frightening. There really are pirates in Thailand and the Caribbean in fact. So if you went to Thailand and you were on a nice holiday and you suddenly got taken over by pirates. In fact a friend of mine was tied up in the Caribbean. But another friend of mine was actually tied up by pirates in the Caribbean.” |
The Seth Rogen comedy Knocked Up couldn’t knock down the pirates coming in at second with $29 million. Shrek The Third is taking it’s name seriously with $27 million in third place. |
