THE MESSENGERS SCARE BY DAY
The Messengers is a scary movie that takes place during daylight hours. |
We are so used to being scared by things going bump in the night that The Messengers sends a completely different fright, it mostly takes place during the daylight hours. |
Penelope Ann Miller plays the mother of a family who moves into a run-down farm only to be bothered by daytime spirits. |
“The cool thing about this movie unlike other horror films is that it’s a daylight horror film. I don’t think there ever has been one or this is sort of one of the first that’s really primarily shot in daylight. So not only do we get scared at night. We have to get scared in the day.” |
The haunting affects the father most of all played by Dylan McDermott but daughter Kristen Stewart is the only member of the family who is not spooked by what’s going on. Actually Kristen can’t wait for the scary moments to happen. |
“For me it’s not necessarily the ghosts and the scares. It’s more the anticipation of the scare because it gets quiet and the camera slows down and you know something is gonna come. You know something is gonna like blast at you and you never know when it’s going to. I love that build-up and the payoff is good but the build-up is what really gets me off.” |
The Messengers is the first English speaking film from the Pang brothers Oxide and Danny who are more known for making thrillers in Hong Kong. |
