THE HUMANS SOUND OFF IN BEE MOVIE
The human stars of Bee Movie praise their leader Jerry Seinfeld. |
Jerry Seinfeld wore three hats for Bee Movie, as writer, producer and lead voice actor. Renee Zellweger lends her voice to Vanessa, the human florist Jerry’s bee Barry B. Benson befriends. |
During the four year process of bringing the animation film to fruition, Jerry attended every single recording session, practically living there which made for a more colorful camaraderie. |
“I wanted to not just have Renee in the movie which of course is the greatest thing you can have but I wanted to really perform with her and create scenes with her together which usually they do it in like separate locations so that’s really been the fun thing is we got to do it together and we made up stuff on the spot so it was great. And it makes all the difference because just to see his face if just gives you so much to play off of, the inflection that he uses, the delivery or the pause which gives you a moment to be colorful in a way that you wouldn’t of if you were just reading to a page by yourself.” |
Seinfeld’s good friend Matthew Broderick voices his bee pal Adam Flayman and Seinfeld star Patrick Warburton aka Puddy, had Jerry in stitches as Vanessa’s jealous husband Ken. |
“Jerry has a very unique way of looking at things and finding humor in it and now he’s doing it with the exploited bee. So it’s fun. It’s great to have him on this side of the glass. It just makes it much easier. You don’t think it about it so much what you’re saying. It’s more like doing a real scene to have the other person to talk to although it always eventually turns into ‘do four versions of line five.’ But it gets us into the mood, a different energy.” |
Also lending their energy to the project, Chris Rock as the mosquito Mooseblood improvising most his dialogue, John Goodman as the rolly polly attorney Layton T. Montgomery, and Seinfeld alumnus Michael Richards making a cameo voice appearance as Bud Ditchwater. |
