THE HITCHER RETURNS
Sophia Bush and Zachary Knighton star in the remake of The Hitcher. |
It’s eleven years since we first encountered Rutger Hauer on a lonely country road thumbing a ride in The Hitcher. Cut to present day where Sophia Bush and Zachary Knighton star in the remake of the creepy cult film. |
Sophia who played Brooke Davis of One Tree Hill for four seasons talks about the dangers of hitching a ride and how that plays out in the film. |
“Nobody really hitchhikes anymore. People know the dangers. You know why you’re not supposed to pick up strangers or get in a car with a stranger. But the way that everything comes to play in the movie is so simple and so accidental and it’s one of those situations that we’ve all been in where you don’t want to do the favor but you’ve been called out. And if you don’t do it you look like a terrible person.” |
Newcomer Zachary Knighton was psyched to take on the role that gave C. Thomas Howell an image make-over. |
“The Hitcher’s always been one of my favorite movies. It’s like one of those movies that just stayed with me as a kid. You’re always in the video store and that cover of C. Thomas Howell’s eyes in the rearview mirror just pops. It’s just one of those things that sticks in your head. When I got the call for the audition I was like, ‘I’ve got to get this part.’ This is the best movie for me to do you know.” |
Over the course of the audition process Zachary grew his hair out and lost 20 pounds to become more like his character, a small town Texan. |
