THE GROOMSMEN BECAME FRIENDS
The four childhood buddies in The Groomsmen played by Jay Mohr, Matthew Lillard, John Leguizamo and Donal Logue became friends off the screen as well. Jay who plays Cousin Mike in the film talks about their bonding. |
Oddly enough Matthew Lillard thought he was up for Jay’s role which wouldn’t have made a very good start in their off-camera friendship. However as casting would have it, the joker was given the role of Des which couldn’t be further from his normal screen persona. |
“It’s like hanging out with all your friends except there’s camera people muscling about all the time. Donal and I have always been friends. I just met Matty Lillard. Everyone’s great. Like the driver on the way home from the Teamsters was like, ‘How’s this guy?’ I was like, ‘He’s just like this. He’s one of us.’ It’s great.” |
The Groomsmen opens July 14rn |
“You know it’s funny I actually the first time I read it they didn’t say what part to think about. So I thought for sure because of my history of being the funny sidekick I’d for sure be Cousin Mike. And I’m happy to report that I’m not actually the funny sidekick. I oddly enough Matthew Lillard is the sage of the group which is shocking and the reason to see the movie for that alone.” |
