Brittany Snow is evil and Amanda Bynes is the good girl in Hairspray.

John Tucker Must Die star Brittany Snow gets to play the mean girl in school once again in Hairspray.

This time she’s Amber Van Tussel, the star of the Corny Collins Show who just tries to make Tracy Turnblad’s life miserable because she’s out to steal her man Link Larkin and her dancing crown.

“She’s just a brat. There’s a difference between somebody being really, really just nasty and someone who is just spoiled and just bratty. And I think she has had her life handed to her the entire time so she just feels entitled. And she walks around and she thinks that she’s the greatest thing because that’s what she grew up thinking because of her mother.”

Balancing out the evil Amber is Penny Pingleton, Tracy’s loyal best friend played by Amanda Bynes.

“And I’m sort of the best friend that just adores Tracy and would do anything for her and is always around her and just loves her to pieces. I loved playing the role. It’s happy, just carefree girl and it’s so much fun. I want to make people laugh and be goofy. That to me is the greatest joy in the world.”

Amanda continues to do just that in the comedy Sydney White as a school geek in the modern day telling of Snow White. Brittany Snow turns to drama playing a prostitute in On The Doll.
