The year is 1692 and five families with the power of witchcraft have formed a covenant of silence to protect them. Cut to 2006 in the film The Covenant where the descendants of the secret legacy are challenged with stopping the evil force they released into the world years earlier. Steven Strait last seen in the indie film Undiscovered plays the leader of the covenant. |
Sebastian Stan also about to be seen in The Architect plays the arch enemy from one of the competing families who uses his powers for destruction. He says he’s more than just the bad guy. |
“It’s more or less about this brotherhood of friends, these boys who have been granted this gift through their blood line to have these powers and this magic. Obviously dating back to the Salem witch trials in Massachusetts and what not and coming to grips with how to control that power and how not to abuse it. And growing up with secrets and this incredible seduction.” |
Laura Ramsey plays the love interest of Strait’s character who gets an unwanted visitor while taking a shower in the film. |
“Who doesn’t like playing the villain as you say? But it’s also in my opinion one of the more complex characters in the film. It has a few more colors. It starts at one point and it goes somewhere with it so there’s different sides of it that you can see. I kind of like that.” |
The Covenant, directed by Renny Harlin opens Friday in theaters nationwide.rn |
“It’s really, really scary and exciting and you never know what’s around the corner. My favorite scene is the shower scene that I did. I think it’s gonna be really, really creepy.”rn |
