THE CORAL LOOK TO OASIS
The Coral released their album, Invisible Invasion, in the U.S. a few weeks back, and it lived up to its name. The album entered in at Number One in the U.K., but it made a small splash in the States. |
The band is confident that they’ll eventually pull through as bands like Blur and Oasis did nearly a decade ago. While the Coral sound nothing like Oasis, they do admit that they were heavily influenced by the Gallagher brothers and the self-proclaimed biggest thing since The Beatles. |
“I think most loads of bands in England now, whether you admit it or not probably picked up a guitar because of Oasis. It’s not so much the sound. It’s not the sound of the band, it’s just like when you see five lads playing a guitar and having it onstage when you’re fifteen, you know, it’s amazing. It shows you can do it as well. That’s the way they influence most people. You don’t have to be like… You see Liam Gallagher and you’re like, thinking, when you’re like fifteen, I just thought that all the lads that would come into my mom and dad’s pub would be just like him — just lads, and if he could do that, I could do that.” |
The Coral is a little daunted by their lack of U.S. success and have chosen to tour here late 2005, early 2006. Meanhwile the band has a slew of U.K. dates on tap for October. |
