THE CONTINUING SAGA OF DEADSY
Deadsy, who are currently touring with The Deftones in support of their latest release, ‘Phantasmagore’ continue to write songs and entire albums with a goal of continuing to evolve as song writers and as a band. |
We caught up with lead singer and guitarist Elijah Blue to discuss how the bands latest release compares to their albums of the past. |
“It’s a little bit of a darker rock record and it’s in a little bit of a different direction. We always want to make a totally different record because usually i think, some people would stay true to things like The Ramones stay true to what they were doing, but it’s good to move on and continue to evolve and not do what you did yesterday.” |
Elijah Blue, who just happens to be Cher and Gregg Allmans son, admitted although ‘Phantasmagore’ is a completely different album from Deadsy’s past records, they still try to have interrelated albums with a continuing saga to tell with each installment. |
“I feel that it’s a continuation, it puts the whole Deadsy story into a cohesive narrative it’s like a chapter or saga. That’s what we always wanted it to be like, each album is the next installment. Our attitude towards music is kind of like a lot of the pop artists, Warhol. We always wanted that mentality like each album is different but it’s all interrelated. They’re all chapters and it’s an ongoing saga.” |
Deadsy’s tour with The Deftones will extend until December 6th in Sayreville, New Jersey. Look for the band to take the holidays off and return to a fresh run of tour dates in support of ‘Phantasmagore.’ Deadsy also appears on the soon to be released Family Values Tour 2006 CD and DVD. The package which will be released on December 26th features performances from Korn, The Deftones, Fly Leaf, Dir En Grey and Deadsy among others. |
