Jimmy Herring has taken over as lead guitarist for Widespread Panic, find out all the details, right here. |
One of the most popular bands in the jam band community, The Codetalkers have released a new album titled ‘Now’ and on this release the band once again demonstrates an incredible talent for songwriting and song structure. In a band that features the extremely intelligent writings of Bobby Lee Rodgers, with a cooking rythym section of Tyler Greenwell and bassist Ted Pecchio was also one of the most talked about sets at Bonnaroo this past June. We caught up with Bobby, Tyler and Ted at Bonnaroo just around the release of ‘Now’ to discuss the fact the band finished all the tracks within a few days, which might be contributed to the relaxed and comfotrable environment of the studio. |
On ‘Now’ the band brings in the legendary Colonel Bruce Hampton who many consider the grandfather of Southern Rock, who was influential in the cult band favorite The Aquarium Rescue Unit and for being one of the instrumental founders of the ground breaking H.O.R.D.E. tour in the early nineties. So how was it for the band to bring in Bruce for the recording? |
“Well we cut all the tracks live in a day pretty much. It was actually real easy we worked with a guy who was incredible in Atlanta who got us in and out of there and it was a comfortable environment to be in.” Bobby Lee Rodgers went on to add “Yeah it was really straight ahead, we just wanted to capture our live sound, went in and in a couple of days, just nailed it.” |
The Codetalkers are receiving rave reviews at every gig they play and the band was recently voted #1 in a recent poll asking “Which band do you think is most likely to win over new fans in 2006?” Well the answer to the poll was The Codetalkers, who also made some new fans at Bonnaroo this year in a very memorable set and continue to impress at each stop along the way. Like many fans, we wanted to find out if the band has any future plans on releasing a live DVD that captures the feel of their live show. Well, the band admitted that is a future plan. |
“He’s helped us along the way and he loves to give us a hard time and we give him a hard time but he’s our dad and we love him. He’s papa.” |
The Codetalkers have announced a handful of live shows in the months of July and August. As of press time the current tour will extend until the 8th Annual Nederland Music and Arts Festival in Nederland, Colorado. Check the bands website www.thecodetalkers.com for futher details on the bands live shows, the new CD ‘Now’ and upcoming news on the bands possible DVD release. |
“Yeah, we sure do. We do a lot of recording and all kinds of tapers come out and we’ve been trying to get them to do a multi track thing this year with video. So hopefully we can put out a video this year maybe a good show or an accumulative mix of shows.” |
