THE CLOSER IS IN A FAMILY WAY

Kevin Bacon bonded even closer to his family playing a father out for vengeance in Death Sentence.

How do you maintain family in a time of crisis? That is the theme running through the new season of The Closer where each episode explores some kind of family dynamic.

When we last saw Kyra Sedgwick who stars as Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson she was contending with her father finding out about her living arrangements with Fritz played by Jon Tenney.

“The season always has a theme and the theme of this season is family. And I think how that manifests itself is families within Brenda’s life, her own family. The family with her squad, conflicts within families. Families coming together, families splitting apart.”

Kyra who has a thriving family of her own off the set with husband Kevin Bacon and their two children says she always takes Brenda home with her.

“She’s constantly on my mind, constantly. I mean literally the other day I had a piece of toast in my hand and a phone in the other and I went like this with the toast to call someone on the phone and I said, ‘this is so Brenda we have to put this in.’ So something great will happen like that. You’re surprise yourself because these characters are almost taking you over in a way.”

On tonight’s episode of The Closer family extends to the men in blue when Brenda’s squad attends the funeral of a former police colleague when they discover the casket contains company when it is accidentally dropped, airing at 9PM on TNT.rn
