THE CLIPSE STILL WAITING IT OUT

The Clipse haven’t released an album since 2002’s Lord Willin’ because they’ve been involved in a legal battle with their label Jive/Zomba. The group wants off but the label isn’t making it that easy and the parties are currently in court. The group’s chief creative collaborator, Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes, shared his thoughts on the situation. He told MTV.com, “I’ve been mummed. In a nutshell, they’re locked in a situation that there’s not much I can really do. I’m not happy about it. It’s a bad situation. And I know God is watching, and I know he’s gonna rectify the situation and the Clipse are gonna be home soon.Other than that, it makes me want to say crazy s–t about the company they’re with, it makes me want to say mean things. But nothing good comes out of being negative. All I can do is be positive. I know God brought us too far to drop us off here.” |
The Clipse are hoping to make a move to the Neptunes’ Interscope-distributed label once the dispute is rsolved. In the meantime, they’ve formed a super group called the Re-Up Gang, which also includes Ab Liva and Sandman. They recently released a mixtape with Clinton Sparks. |
